In 1983 I founded the company Kamaladiwela Gemstone Trade in Bad Zwischenahn in Lower Saxony, Germany. I also studies chemistry at the University of Oldenburg, since I am interested in the fundamental structure of gemstones as well.

I was born in Sri Lanka, a country which is known for its rich deposits of precious stones and an old tradition in trading gemstones. Without a doubt, the most beautiful and valuable sapphires in the world have been found in Sri Lanka. In 1973, after graduation in Colombo, I came to Germany, where I achieved my degrees as Gemologist, Diamond Appraiser and Gemstone Consultant at the DGemG in Idar-Oberstein in 1976.

Between 1976-1982 I was an entrepreneur in Sri Lanka trading gemstones with emphasis on mining and processing raw gemstones, as well as gemstone trading. I regularly attend continuing education seminars to keep my knowledge and my skills at a very high level.
